Today seemed to be incredibly quiet out there. Covering Argyle and Peru properties extensively, we spent most of the morning following up on some fresh female leopard tracks on Hippo Rocky Road. Unfortunately we lost them heading south in a thick grassy area. Once again on a leopard-finding mission, we checked Giraffe kill with no luck. Heading back via Vyeboom Dam we came across a lone rhino, who was very unsure of us and cautiously peered at us through thick scrub mopane – not conducive for photography at all!

The afternoon was even quieter; as we followed up on a female leopard seen earlier that day far in the south. It was quite enjoyable to be driving an area so unfamiliar to me. With no luck, we slowly started heading back up north when Dave radioed in to say they had seen wild dog right outside camp. The dogs however were mobile and we were so far south there was just no way to get back quick enough.

Despite the lack of big game out there today, this afternoon provided a beautiful sunset with amazing lighting. I guess that is just how it goes sometimes!
