Hello everyone! Okay, so we didn't see cheetah today but it was such an exciting sighting yesterday, I had to share it with you again. Wow though – what a busy morning, and
rather rushed to say the least. The animals seemed to be as far spread out as
they could possible be. I headed south, finding a herd of elephant on the way.
With off roading still pretty limited, most of what we saw was through the
trees. The southern stations invited us to go see lion, and of course we took
them up on the offer. It was the collared male and 1 female. They were flat cat
when we arrived but after a while got up and moved. We were even lucky enough
to see them mating, although they hid themselves behind some Grewia bushes –
clearly wanting a bit of privacy.
It was while some of us were far down south on Tanda Tula that
Giyani found Argyle Jnr’s boy leopard up on MOstwari airstrip. So, after a quick
drinks and a mad rush back up north we got to see him briefly before he ducked
off into thick mopane.
The afternoon was a true elephant afternoon with ellies popping
out all over the place. Other than that, animals were rather quiet – Giyani
found two buffalo on Java and right at the end of the night, I found a herd of
buffalo which we will jst have to follow up on in the morning. Elephants are
never a disappointment though so we were all pretty content!
