10th May: Confirming Chad's Suspicions!

Daily Synopsis.

Getting out late we stuck to the North and had ourselves an afternoon filled with general game. We also spent some quality time with a group of Bull Elephants as they lazily fed along the riverbed, they seem to be in abundance at the moment and we found another group again feeding along the Sohobele River.

While we spent our time in the North, Giyani had once again found our mysterious Lion Pride in the South, the same ones that are some what nervous of vehicles and have appeared from seemingly nowhere. On this occasion they seemed a little more relaxed allowing the stations to view them from a distance. They eventually lost them in a very thickly vegetated area but Herald and Godfrey, having not seen them, stuck around the area and found them again after dark. They appeared more relaxed now the sun had gone down and the guys where able to get within twenty metres of them without them running off, allowing for a good sighting. If we don't push this pride to hard and approach the sighting with care, it hopefully won't be to long before they relax around the vehicles and allow us to come and go without unsettling them. There is an available territory left open by the Sohobele Pride, we can only hope they step in and fill the gap.

Having had a good afternoon our mission tomorrow will be to find something in the cat family, lets hope it's a little bigger than an African Wildcat.

Thanks for the update, and I think Chad's prediction will be correct. You will probably get tired of all the lions while he is not there :-)
